Biden started draining the strategic petroleum reserve (SPR) in 2021, a year after he was in office and promised to totally dismantle the US oil and gas industry. Flooding the oil market via SPR releases, theorectially, would lower gasoline prices in the US, make him look like a leader, and get more Democrats re-elected during the 2022 mid-terms.
It was chicken shit and put America in harms way.
All that poor policy was reversible when Russia went to war with Ukraine and, again, when Iran and Hamas went to war with Israel. Jesus, with war on two fronts, and threats from China over Taiwan, it was, still is, a precarious time in our nation. We needed hydrocarbon security. Exports, for instance, should have ceased immediately. Biden did nothing.
The price of gasoline is now rising and is causing great hardship on the American consmer. If we had to front a war in Europe, or the Far East against China, we'd be outta jet fuel in 45 days.
In early 2024 Biden promised to refill the SPR for about $10 dollars a barrel more than when it was drained. That would have cost the American tax payer, including Republicans, who did not give a shit about electing more Democrats, a lot of money. Billions. At least it would have given us some breathing room.
The price of oil kept rising and now Biden has decided to axe that idea of refilling the SPR. Its too expensive to do so (promises mean nothing in politics) and that would raise the price of oil/gasoline in America when Biden needs oil/gasoline to be as low as possible.
You see how fucked up this all is?
If you think we have all the oil and natural gas in the US that we will ever need, and can jack around with America's energy future like this...you must be a dumb Republican. Republicans are equally stupid. They believe we will never run out of oil in the US. If they elect Trump in November he will drill baby, drill the Permian into oblivion and there will be NOTHING left by 2027. Check back with me on that.

The rest of the world does not give a rat's ass about the US. Our so called, energy supermacy is based entirely on the Pemain Basin and US LTO crude oil exports. All that is fragile, totally dependent on stupid politicians, cash flow, water, earthquakes, interest rates, severely declining Permian well productivity. and how much natural gas American's are willing to watch get burned off a flare stack.
