Early on young men and women find different paths to take in life, what direction to take that will give them the best chance to succeed and provide for their families. Much of that depends on their environment, who brung them to the great dance of life, and cirumstances. Most of it has to do with necessity. With...survival.
Some people believe higher education and degrees are the answer, others believe hard manual labor is the road. No choice one makes in life is better, or worse, than another's and nobody, I repeat nobody, has the intellectual, or moral highground over another to criticize, or pass judgement on which road to take.
For many the path we chose is a...calling. Myself, for instance, never found the oil and gas exploration business to undertake... it found me. My father left me with a strong work ethic and a sence of honor, and respect towards others I would not trade for anything. My mother the same. I come from good stock.
Then, before you know it, it's over. Decades of 20 hour days, and sleepless nights, and its over. You are tired beyond words, a deep tired that will not go away with sleep. You quit, or you do the right thing and give somebody else in life the same opportunities you were given.
So, you lift people up and give them belief. You teach and let them decide for themselves. Because, well, that is what God expects, I think.
I have given others an opportunity. I passed it on. I gave them hope.
There is nothing better in all of life than that.
Maybe 1 in 10000 make any real money in a career and every one of those that do, has someone they damn well better thank in the past, without whom, they wouldn't have made it. Giving a leg up to another is almost a relic now. Funny thing, you might give up just a little, and end up with a soul. So many guys should hear that. Glad you can make the world just a little better. Cheers
